IP addresses are used to transmit data from the addresser to the addressee. Similar to the postal address on an envelope, data is provided with an IP address that identifies the addressee explicitly. This data is stored in so-called log files on our web server. For protection against misuse of our computer systems it is necessary, that the IP address of each visitor will be saved for a period of 3 months. After expiration of this period, the data will be deleted. In addition, we may use the log files to optimize and improve our website's design. Any such data so used will be de-personalized in advance to protect personal anonymity. How are your data protected against misuse?
ePac deploys current technical and security management measures to secure it's websites and other systems against loss, destruction, access, alteration or distribution of your data by unauthorized persons. In certain cases your personal data will be transmitted in encrypted form through the so-called "Secure Socket Layer" technology (SSL). That implies that your computer and the servers of ePac communicate through an approved ciphering method, which is considered to be save in its most current version (currently SSL version 3, 128 bit). If your browser supports SSL, the transmission of personal data is protected through this function. In this case most of the browser show you via a short dialogue field or an icon, whether the safety record is supported. You will find further information under the help function of your browser. Should you wish to get in contact with ePac via e-mail, we would like to point out, that the confidentiality of the transmitted data is not guaranteed when using an unencrypted e-mail. Similar to postcards, the content of emails can be viewed by third parties. We therefore recommend to you the usage of cryptographic techniques or to send confidential information to ePac by post.
